Pepper SDK Plugin - Experimental version
v1.3.15-experimental-06 - Documentation last updated on 28/01/2020
The Pepper SDK plugin is a tool helping developers to build their robotic applications for Pepper on Android Studio.
The experimental version is derived from the latest (stable) version in order to include several distinct experimental features.
Setup
- Download the experimental archive here.
- “File” > “Settings” > “Plugins” > click on the Settings icon > “Install Plugin from Disk” > select the downloaded .zip file > “Restart IDE”
Features
- Intro to the plugin: when launching Android Studio, if you do not have any of the Pepper SDK tools required to use the plugin installed, a window will appear to guide you through the necessary steps to do so as well as a help section to let you know how to use the plugin.
- Release Notes: when updating the plugin to a new version, you will get a notice with a link to the release notes listing the changes made.
- SDK Update task balloon: currently, when updating the Robot SDK, either by downloading or deleting an API, you can keep running the task in the background and close the window. With this new feature, you will be notified when the task is over (successfully or not) with an information balloon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
- Connection to a real robot improved: the Robot Viewer is now optional for the Android connection to a real Pepper. Both are now functionning separately. You can start and stop them individually without affecting the other. Disclaimer: the icons for the “Open Robot Viewer”/”Close Robot Viewer” are temporary.
